This is a PEM passive device that can be mounted next to the railing of a rack. Each PEM connects to one system port of a HP KVM switch, and then up to eight servers can be connected to the PEM, instead of just one server connected to he main KVM port. With a PEM connected to each of the 8 or 16 ports of the HP switch, the total system capacity of the 16 port switch expands to 128 servers. This makes it very economical to expand on your existing KVM switch, & leave everything centralized under one KVM device. Please check with your user manual to find out if this PEM expansion module will work with other HP KVM switches.
